Tumbling Classes in Sarasota for Every Age and Skill Level

While gymnastics centers focus on point-based sports and apparatus, our tumbling classes focus on Acro-Dance: the art of blending high-level tumbling seamlessly with choreography. We don't just teach the trick; we teach how to make the trick beautiful on a stage.

In order to get the best results of this program, we encourage but do not require Ballet or Jazz classes. This program is heavily based in ballet and jazz, so understanding and learning the proper terminology is needed to achieve the best results.

What to Wear for Tumbling Classes

For the safety of both dancers and teachers, midriffs must be covered for acro classes.

Leotards with lycra shorts or leggings, or biketards are appropriate for this class. Hair must be pulled back into a low bun.

No baggy clothes, braids, hairclips, etc. as these can be dangerous while tumbling and rolling around in class.

Frequently Asked Questions!

What is the difference between Tumbling Acro Dance and traditional Gymnastics?

This is the most common question! While both involve tumbling, Gymnastics is a sport performed on spring floors with apparatus (bars, beams, vaults). Acro is an art form designed to be performed on a solid stage. Because our dancers don't have "springs" under them, we focus more heavily on core control, "soft" landings, and transitions. Think of it as the strength of a gymnast meets the grace of a dancer.

Is Acro Dance Tumbling the same as Gymnastics Tumbling?

Yes and No! We teach the same high-energy skills, like cartwheels, aerials, and back handsprings, but we do it with a 'Dancer’s Edge.' In our Acro classes, your child learns the power of a gymnast and the grace of a dancer. We focus on 'seamless tumbling,' meaning they learn how to get into and out of their flips gracefully and incorporating them into a full dance routine.

Is Acro Dance Tumbling safe for my child's joints?

Safety is our #1 priority. Unlike some "self-taught" tumbling, we follow a professional, step-by-step syllabus (Acrobatic Arts). We never "throw" a trick. Every student must pass a strength and flexibility check before attempting a new skill to ensure their muscles can fully support their joints.

My child wants to "try other things" like gymnastics. Why should we stay at a dance studio?

We love this question! By taking Acro at a dance studio, your child gets the "Dancer’s Edge." We don't just teach them how to flip; we teach them how to move rhythmically, work as a team, and perform with confidence. Plus, it saves you from the Sarasota traffic; you get gymnastics-level training right here in your home studio without a separate commute!

Can I add an Acro Dance Tumbling class to my child's current schedule?

Absolutely! And we highly recommend it! Acro is the perfect "power partner" for Jazz, Lyrical, or Hip Hop. It builds the core strength and explosive power that helps dancers jump higher and turn more steadily in their other classes.
